Vision Boarding Your Purpose for a Successful 2024

I have this goal that Vixen will grow to be a $100,000,000 business by 2030, and we’ll host a giant Vixen love-fest at Madison Square Garden.

I have a client who is a photographer, and her big goal is to have a picture she’s taken featured on the cover of Vogue magazine.

I have other clients with goals to be on stage with well-known influencers and speakers.

What do all these have in common? They’re all a vision; an image of what they want their businesses to bring into their lives. And today we’re going to chat about how you can have one, too.

Permission to Dream

Remember when you were young and someone asked what you wanted to be when you grew up? You probably had a dream with no limits. For me, I wanted to be a concert pianist. I had this dream of playing piano on stage in a big, beautiful dress, making a room full of people happy.

Give yourself permission to dream like that again; the permission to dream with no limits like you would as a child. My friend and fellow High Performance Coach, Beckie Kullberg, even has her clients brainstorm with paper and crayons to really get in touch with that child-like wonder. What’s something your business would bring you in your wildest, most limitless dreams?

Take that dream and write it down. Really envision the details. How you show up, how you feel… I want this dream to be so big that it even scares you a little. I mean, when I think about Madison Square Garden, I get butterflies.

My business coach, Matt Curry, calls this goal your BHAG (Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal). The real purpose of having that BHAG, or a Compelling Vision, is to recenter yourself on those days where you find yourself asking, “Why the heck am I doing this?” (We’ve all been there.)

Results on Purpose

When you have a vision for what it is you want to achieve, you tie with it emotionally. And as emotionally driven humans, having those goals that we love and get excited about helps drive us towards finding a path to make it there.

If you have a team (or if you’re still in the process of growing one), I’d like to invite you to share your BHAG, your vision, with them. And sometimes this can feel scary, sharing our dreams. But sharing with your team gives them the same drive it gives you. Because our dreams tie into what matters to us, right?

So sharing that dream with your team members gives them a higher purpose. Just like with you, it makes them more results-driven. I know for my team it does–because who doesn’t want to attend a love-fest at Madison Square Garden with other loving, powerful women?

I remember a story about President Kennedy visiting NASA, where he saw a janitor cleaning up. He approached the janitor and asked, “Excuse me sir; what is it that your job is around here?” to which the janitor replied, “Well President Kennedy, so nice to meet you. I’m here to put a man on the moon.

That story is the perfect example of why your vision matters in your business. That vision means that every single member of your team knows that their role is crucial in achieving this big dream. It acts as a guiding North Star for every person. They feel attached to that big, beautiful outcome. When everyone on your team lives and breathes that bigger purpose, it creates results (and that’s a pretty cool place to work).

The Power of Ripple Effect

I’d like to invite you to take sharing your dream with your team one step further, and share it with the world. Put it on your social media or your website. That big dream might inspire everyone around you to start dreaming big, too. You and I both know that the world needs a bit more of that magic right now. And who knows, your perfect client might just come across your dream and feel spoken to.

If you’d like to build out your vision a little more, I’d like to gift you a free copy of our Vixen Compelling Vision Worksheet. This is a client-favorite that we go through at The Vixen Mastermind to help build the vision that carries you and your team through all your goals.

Even if you’re not yet ready to share that big dream with the world, I’d love to hear about it. Send it to me by messaging us on Instagram so we can cheer you on.
